A Lineage Worth More Than Gold

Apr 16, 2024 | God's Love, Hope

“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received
the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, Abba Father!
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ,
provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
Romans 8:15-17

Perhaps you never knew your grandparents or your relationship with your parents wasn’t great.

In Romans 8 we read about the lineage a Christian has in the LORD.

There is no reason to dwell too long on past hurts when we have a Father who loves us more than life itself.

Certainly, working through disappointment and pain is important, but then let us immerse ourselves in the truth of who we are as believers!

God is the perfect Father, and He has made us His heirs! You have a lineage, a heritage, an identity that nothing can shake or steal from you as a Christian!

Now some will identify their earthly father as being like our Heavenly Father, but this is not so.

God longs to show us His love if we will let His love into our hearts and souls to mend those broken places from our earthly relationships. We can trust Him even in the pain and suffering anyone has gone through in life.

In fact, we are called to suffer as Christ suffered. The Bible teaches that truth in Romans 8:17.

None of us really wants to suffer though, do we? Yet God promises to bring that suffering full circle.

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds, we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:5

Our Lord Jesus knows what a broken heart looks like. He is the one who wept when Lazarus died.

“Jesus wept.” (John 11:35)

His heart was heavy as He suffered for all of humanity on the cross of Golgotha.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are — yet He did not sin.”
Hebrews 4:15

Dear reader, Jesus knows our every weakness, our vulnerabilities, our pain, and our suffering.

He wants us to claim our identity in Him.

We are His heirs, His children, His special possession as we believe in Him and trust Him to be our perfect Father and our own Adopted Father.

There is a full and robust lineage here for you dear one.

You need not fret over people who have let you down.

Draw your everything from your perfect Father in heaven and you will find peace with your past.

God will heal you in ways you never thought possible.

Jesus loves you; He cherishes you; He redeems you, and He wants to make you whole.

The question is, will you let Him in?

Will you receive the identity you have been richly given as you believe and trust in this amazing God?

Claim your adoption status, your rightful heritage, your worth and value as God’s child.

We are heirs with Christ.

Hold on to that identity.

I will too.

Child of the Living God,

Heirs of the Perfect Father.

A rich lineage indeed.

Our inheritance in Christ is a birthright worth holding onto.
