A TIME AND A SEASON
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
9 What do workers gain from their toil?
10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart;
yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Lately it’s been on my mind this thing called “seasons.”
As well, the book of Ecclesiastes has been a theme that God has been placing on my path frequently of late.
The year 2023 began in the book of Ecclesiastes, in my daily Bible reading.
Our New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day Church Services rang out the Old and in the New Year with the book of Ecclesiastes.
Our Ladies Bible Study began the study of the book of Ecclesiastes in January 2023 and we are completing the study this morning.
Perhaps there is a message God wants me to understand? It would appear so.
There is a message for you also as we glean from His living Word.
A few days ago, I filled in a Quiz that suggested I was “finished” with a certain Season in my life. I’m not sure that is accurate, but a key verse when looking for direction is God will “instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” (Psalm 32:8 ESV)
So for you and me, there is a time and a season for everything.
Are you going through a major transition?
Are you trying to make sense of where God wants you to be in this particular Season?
Are you planting, healing, building, weeping, mourning, searching, throwing away, mending, speaking, or being silent?
Are you doing so much more or so much less?
What burden has God laid on your heart?
Do you know He will make everything, everything, beautiful in its time?
How can that be when you are healing, searching, or weeping?
How can that be when no one can fathom what God is doing?
God has set eternity in our hearts and that gives us hope to hang onto.
When things look meaningless, grim or hopeless, our great God can turn it full circle in His time.
But be prepared since most often this takes time, God’s time, not ours.
The process takes time, and we are being sanctified, which simply means change is happening in our souls.
A season of grief, a season of healing, a season of service, will be made beautiful in His time.
We can not fathom it, but we must hold on to His promises and never let go.
This season you are in, God can and will make it beautiful in His time.
He says so in His Word.
His Word never lies.
There is a time for everything. A season for every activity.
He has made everything beautiful in its time.
