Blossoms in a Barren Land

“The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus;
it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God.”
 Isaiah 35:1-2

Our LORD has written these two Bible Verses from Isaiah 35, through the prophet Isaiah, to overflow with meaning.

God’s grace turns the soul that was in the wilderness, dry and weary, to be filled with joy and singing! That soul will blossom in faith and spring to life, thriving in God’s grace.

These two verses give hope to the soul that is lost, alone, weary, and wandering. They give inspiration to all of us because who has not felt that way before?

Even the most seasoned Christian can go through dry seasons.

Yet none are as dry as the one who does not yet know God, or who has turned away from God.

The hope we are looking for, the redeemed sinners’ only hope, is in our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

As we turn to Him, the dry bones come to life, the weary wanderer finds refreshment for their soul.

The kingdom of darkness dispels as the Savior of the world pours forth His light on all who will look up.

As we go forward in the journey, may it be that joy fills our heart as the enemy of our souls has no say.

Christ has won the victory, and darkness has turned to day.

Living faith does not promise a life free from suffering, and yet for Christians consolation is the joy in suffering that Christ brings to the soul. The soul blossoms with hope and joy in the middle of hard situations.

Inner joy and peace radiates from the one who gives Jesus full say in their lives.

Dry lands come to life, gladness and singing fill the heart. Rejoiceful songs reverberate throughout this land. It will blossom not in a mediocre measure but abundantly!

Does this picture fill your heart with gladness as it does mine?

Let us thank the LORD for fulfilling the prophecies in the Old Testament and bringing Christ Jesus into our

wilderness, to fill our lives with hearts and souls that blossom and thrive and sing forever under His reign!

The only other option than to turn to Jesus to fill us is to remain in the dark night, the dry desert, the weary land where there is no water.

PRAYER:

Fill us, Jesus, to overflowing with your goodness and your love today?

Help us grow to the fullest, into the person you desire us to become.

In the times of hardship may we reflect your Spirit of divine grace, love and kindness.

May we be sweet and kind no matter the day.

And may this be for your glory alone.

In Jesus’ name.

Amen.
