“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?'” John 11:25-26
Before Jesus died on the cross, He spoke to Martha, after Lazarus’ death. Martha had faith that Lazarus would rise again on judgement day.
Jesus told her He was the resurrection and the life. He meant that after He died on the cross, those redeemed in Christ would live forever after they die.
Because of Jesus’ own resurrection from the grave, for those who believe our bodies will be resurrected to eternal life. Jesus is our source. The dead will live. Our physical bodies will rise when Jesus comes for our glorification. This knowledge should make the family of God rejoice with a depth of gratitude that knows no end. When we lose a loved one, we have the hope of everlasting life, raised to heaven to live forevermore.
For believers, our joy and confidence is in Jesus, who rose from the dead and gave His life to pay for our sins and to give us life!. He paid for our sins. Death has been conquered! We may fear dying but not death itself. Jesus destined us for an eternity with God. Thanks be to Jesus Christ! Though we will die physically, we will be raised to everlasting life with Jesus, when He comes again to raise our bodies from the dead. In the meantime, our souls will go to heaven just as Jesus’ soul did the moment He died on the cross.
This may sound complicated. It is the Biblical theology of the Resurrection of Christ, a most central doctrine in the Christian’s life.
What we need to hold on to is that Jesus died, rose from the grave, took our sin to the cross, and defeated death for us!
We will live again because Jesus lives!
He gives us life here on earth spiritually as believers because Jesus fills us with His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, and we will live forevermore in heaven!
Do YOU believe this?
If YOU don’t believe, ask the God of the universe to help you understand and receive this life giving truth into your heart today?
What have you got to lose your life?
HE IS ALIVE!
