Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear.
If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment,
and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love.
1 John 4:18 NLT.
When you understand and grasp the depth of God’s love, you have nothing to fear.
When you understand the depth of God’s unconditional love, you no longer need to be afraid of your failings, thinking God will love you less. So many stumble, thinking we have to measure up to win God’s love.
This kind of love is unique. You can’t earn it, you can’t buy it, you can’t win it because in the end, Jesus bought you for a price. You are redeemed and made new when He bought you on the cross of Calvary.
If you grasp the depth of God’s love, all fear would vanish. God already knows every failure of yours, now and in the future, and He still loves you.
God does not measure, or grade us and then love us conditionally. Isn’t that a great comfort?
Many individuals are used to conditional love. Love that has to be earned. Or love that fails.
Some fear punishment for failures.
When I grew up, I believed I had to be perfect to earn God’s love. I thought every Bible character was perfect too.
Love seemed to me back then to be achieved, won, or earned.
What a misunderstanding that was. It is the other way around. God is perfect. I never will be. Jesus gives me His perfection or His righteousness (rightness).
If only everyone understood this concept.
Too many individuals fear entering a Church because they believe they have to be sinless to enter.
Only Christ can make us clean or sinless through His death on the cross. His atonement, His sacrifice, was enough to carry all our sins and pay for them.
I pray every reader gets this truth deep in their hearts today.
Satan wins every battle when a sinner won’t come through the Church doors.
As Christians we also need to speak to others who don’t know God’s unconditional love, and teach them about it.
So often Christians are a little confused themselves thinking we are on a grading system ourselves.
When we study the Bible Verse listed above, and meditate on it for a long while, we will understand the deep, deep love of Christ which compels us to share it.
For me personally, I still struggle with fear in love. I am an anxious person in this area.
I hide it well but under the surface it looms.
What about you?
How much don’t we need to gain a better understanding of God’s love?
Christian authors have written books on that subject. Yet the best book of all to study is our Bible!
Why not ask Him for a fresh revelation of His love today?
I will do the same.
Blessed Monday, dear reader.
May you experience God’s love today and understand it more fully, too.
