“I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them.
I will be like dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily.
Like a cedar of Lebanon, he will send down his roots; his young shoots will grow.
His splendour will be like an olive tree, his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon.
Men will dwell again in his shade. He will flourish like the grain. He will blossom like a vine,
And his fame will be like the wine from Lebanon.
O Ephraim, what more have I to do with idols?
I will answer him and care for him.
I am like a green pine tree; your fruitfulness comes from me.”
Who is wise? He will realize these things.
Who is discerning? He will understand them.
The ways of the LORD are right; the righteous walk in them,
but the rebellious stumble in them.
Hosea chapter four is a beautiful picture of what it looks like for God’s people to turn back from their waywardness, repent of their idolatry, and seek forgiveness and compassion from their God.
Thankfully, as we repent of our sins, God restores us in His mercy, compassion, and love. Hosea 14 gives us a harvest of beauty to feast our hearts, minds, and souls upon!
As we turn back to God and experience restoration from sin, he heals us. He loves us freely.
His anger vanishes, and he pours out His dew upon us.
Imagine the spiritual blessings as He blossoms us like a beautiful lily?
He helps us grow with deep roots into a majestic cedar!
Because of God’s splendour living in us, we will grow to be like a fruitful olive tree!
We will flourish like grain, blossom like a vine, a fragrant and beautiful planting of God!
As we turn away from idols, God answers us and cares for us.
We have a compassionate relationship with our great God.
God describes Himself as a fruitful pine tree in Hosea 14:8. And… as we lean upon Him, our fruitfulness (ability to do His will and works) comes from God, poured into us by His Spirit.
The wise and discerning realize these truths.
The ways of the LORD are right.
Let us walk in them and not rebel.
God helping us to stay on track.
What a beautiful harvest we will reap as we sow unto the LORD.
This word picture in Hosea 14 says it all.
Can you envision it with me?
