Free Gift

Jul 7, 2023 | Hope

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!”
And let the one who hears say, “Come!”
Let the one who is thirsty come;
and let the one who wishes take
the free gift of the water of life.
Revelation 22:17 NIV.

The words of Christ written above invite those who thirst for Him, His grace, communion with Him, and knowledge of Him to come, to He who will quench that thirst.

So many are seeking in empty places for satisfaction.

Yet Jesus invites those who will to partake of spiritual blessings.

The grace of God leads the invitation into divine communion that satisfies the soul.

Hearts quickly long for things that don’t satisfy.

Isaiah 55 also invites those who are thirsty to drink freely.

Jesus gives this encouragement or call to come to “whoever thirsts.”

That is all of us. We all thirst. We all live in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Except by Christ’s grace we will not come.

We will not thirst.

Our souls will long to be satisfied in earthly elements if not in Christ.

Do you remember the hottest day in your life?

You were desperate for a drink of water.

Finally, you got to the tap, and you couldn’t drink fast enough.

You drank, and you drank and you drank until your thirst was satisfied.

Now picture yourself in a desert. The end of your days is near.

You must get to some water to keep you alive!

You are dry, despondent, and seeking desperately for life giving water.

Your spirit will give up soon.

There is hope. There is an oasis in the distance.

Imagine running into the arms of the one who will help you drink from the fountain of living water at that oasis.

This one is Jesus. He longs to lead you to the fountain of life.

Our Lord would have that no one parish the Bible tells us in 2 Peter 3 verse 9, but that all people would come to repentance, and faith.

Jesus satisfies fully. He is the water of life.

Allow Him to quench your soul with the fountain of life.

Doesn’t that sound refreshing to you?

Are you dry, empty, discouraged, depressed, and weary on the journey?

Then turn to Him.

Turn to Jesus and let Him fill you with His free gift to give you life and life abundantly.

This life will revive your Spirit eternally.
