Give God Your All!

Oct 10, 2023 | Gratitude

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,
as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.
It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Colossians 3:23-24

Colossians 3 is where we left off on Friday. We focused in on Verses 16 and 17, which speak about doing things with gratitude filling our hearts.

Now, after a Long Weekend here in Canada, we will focus in on Colossians 3 verses 23 and 24.

It blessed us to celebrate Thanksgiving here in Canada yesterday. I love the time of year we Canadians get to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, don’t you? God has decked the deciduous trees in garments of fall colour. They lose their leaves as winds swirl around, tossing them here and there. And the sun shines radiant upon our heads.

It is a glorious time of year to observe the changing seasons and to celebrate God’s goodness to us here. As the saying goes, “there is always something to be thankful for!”

This holiday we celebrate far before any preparations for Christmas need to be made. We can take some time to focus on the changing seasons, the harvest, the bounty, and God’s gracious goodness to us.

It blessed my husband and me to spend time with family and grandchildren stayed overnight. It wasn’t perfect by far, but it was beautiful. Full of God’s goodness. He gave us tangible reminders of His grace to us. And His grace is sufficient.

In between bits and bites the news reminded us we are on the brink of World War 3. We had to stay in tune with what was happening and keep praying for God’s help. We don’t know what is ahead. We know our country and our world are in chaos. So we focused on God’s goodness most of all. That is what we must always focus on no matter what.

Regardless of these past weekend’s events, the Bible Verses I picked for today are a reminder to keep working for the LORD full throttle.

Those verses are so inspiring, so very encouraging to us to give our whole hearts to God and give Him our all!

No matter what is going on around us, we should give Him our all. That gives purposes to our lives as well. When we do our work for the LORD and not man, nothing else matters. We do it for Him alone. And as we please Him alone, He gives us a reward for finding satisfaction in working for Him.

So Thanksgiving Day 2023 is behind us, but all the memories ever in our minds, we can recall most of all God’s grace and goodness to us.

No matter what goes on around us, we give God our all. We serve Him with passion. We don’t do it for man, only God.

God is worthy of our wholehearted devotion and service.

He alone is worthy to serve.

What are you doing to give your all?

It is a question worthy of reflection for me and for you.

And won’t you say these words along with me this Tuesday morning after a busy weekend? We can personalize it as we say the words.

“Whatever you (I) do, work at it with all your (my) heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you (I) know that you (I) will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you (I am) are serving.”

Prayer- Thank-you LORD that as the world lies in chaos, we can remain thankful to the God of the universe.
Help us see your goodness despite the cares that surround us, now and always.
And help us LORD JESUS, to give our ALL to YOU.
