God’s Grace Abounds to Us-

May 24, 2024 | Gratitude

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you,
so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times,
you may abound in every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:8

This morning I lingered on the front porch with my Bible and coffee in hand. Naturally, the hummingbird flew by a reminder to me of God’s nearness always.

Recently I made a commitment to refuse to look on Social Media before my alone time with the LORD.

Of course as Satan would have it, several text messages came in. The only reason I had my phone with me is because I never want to miss an excellent photo opportunity. Honest. I have yet to get a super good one of the lovely hummingbird. I will have to wait for my photography friends to share theirs.

Please pardon my being late this morning. Mostly, it was time well spent out front.

It turns out one of my favourite chapters of the Bible was in front of me for perusal this morning. I know I say that a lot, but it truly is a favourite. Perhaps it is for you also? So instead of just reading, I meditated and lingered over the meaningful words. Yesterday I was in the flowerbeds weeding, so I needed a little extra time this morning to get going. Pardon my tardiness.

If you are reading this far, let me share a little about this meaningful scripture.

In my life God used 2 Corinthians 9 to encourage me to step out in faith to do my work at home in my office at 53616. You might think I am a confident person, if you even know me, but sometimes I hide behind a fearless exterior. Perhaps you do the same? We put on a good front, don’t we? But inside, sometimes we are downright scared and apprehensive.

So God was gracious to remind me, as he did more importantly the apostle Paul and his coworkers in the mission fields, that He would always provide as we step out in faith as God directs. We willingly give to others and God replenishes us.

The interesting thing is recently someone dear to me gave me a card with that exact Bible Verse on it. I had almost forgotten God’s promise. He brought His Word back to me. Through reading this chapter and looking at that beautiful card to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. Isn’t it amazing how God speaks as we listen?

Probably this particular Bible Verse has affected you differently? That is how God works through His Word, isn’t it? What pierces you, at a certain point and time, might not penetrate my heart at all until years later.

I hope you aren’t tired of the subject of giving yet?

This loaded Chapter, 2 Corinthians 9, I will get back to on Monday.

It is chuck full of brilliant advice for the Christian who wants to learn to give generously, so an outpouring of gratitude goes back to God. Here’s the thing we know to be true too, all that we do, we do it for YOU dear LORD.

And on that note… I wish you a blessed and beautiful weekend, dear reader.
