For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10
Isn’t it comforting to know God created us by His own majestic design, His master workmanship, and in His own image?
We are a work of art, God’s masterwork, reborn spiritually in Christ Jesus!
Hold that thought on good days and tough days. Remember whose you are.
No matter what the exterior package looks like, you are a valuable commodity in the family of God!
Too many people walk around with negative thoughts about their body image, or their looks and their capabilities.
God made you, and that is enough. He made you in His own likeness or image. This means we should value ourselves because God made us and Christ lives in us as believers!
Imagine you are God’s own accomplishment, created in Christ to do good things. God cared enough about you. He pre-planned the good works He wants you to do in this life for His name’s sake.
The opposite of all this is to dwell on the negative, that a person would have no identity and would always search aimlessly to feel important, thus seeking the things of this world to give meaning to life.
In this day and age, that can range from cosmetic surgery, wealth and materialism, going from relationship to relationship hoping to find happiness, power, prestige, titles, new pronouns, and the list goes on.
The opposite of this is accepting who God made us to be and being content with that. Doing good things for Christ that He has for us, and pursuing what God wants us to do daily, surrendered to His will.
One search for significance finds contentment and quiet confidence.
The opposite search leads to brokenness, discontent, disillusionment and a life filled with doing empty things, finding joy in time spent in all the wrong places looking for happiness on empty faces.
The end of one road leads to a life of fulfillment in the tasks accomplished for the God of our lives. Resting on God’s promises.
The other path leads to a dead end. Futile living. Empty promises.
Which path are you walking in today?
It is never too late to change direction, asking God to change your path and take hold of your life today?
And for those of you being led by God’s spirit already, doing His works, realizing whose image God made you in, won’t you join me today by thanking God for His gift of grace to bring us to this point today?
Say along with me as David did long ago… “Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And as if this were not enough in your sight, O Sovereign LORD, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant.”
Never forget, as a believer in Jesus Christ, you belong to the family of God; you are part of the lineage of Jesus Christ; you have an unshakeable identity and purpose in life and when it is all said and done, your future will be secure.
