Hold to Truth

Mar 26, 2024 | Hope

“For what I received, I passed on to you as of first importance:
that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day
according to the Scriptures.”
1 Corinthians 15:3

I read just yesterday about a mega church in the USA would take out the words “crucifixion, the blood of Jesus, resurrection” from their Easter Services.

Probably being an atheist is more honest than the sheep in wolf’s clothing who preach an utterly false gospel devoid of meaning or hope and truth. These preachers twist and turn the gospel for their own purposes and will one day answer to God for leading people astray.

As believers we have our own responsibility to weigh precept upon precept, line upon line…and seek God’s truth. When the church we go to is preaching a false gospel, we must run for the hills and go to a church that holds to truth.

When the heart of the gospel, the life and death of Jesus Christ, is being stripped away, spurned, trampled upon, something has gone desperately wrong. And the oblivious believe the lies and never wonder what truths have been ripped out of the pages of scripture.

What a world we live in. If not for the hope we have in God, we would have to shake our heads in discouragement. He calls his own and they will remain faithful.

During an age of “relativism” the honest person still speaks the absolute true and complete gospel.

There are so many lies, so many half-truths, so many perversions prevailing around us.

What is the truth anymore? Many wonder.

And then the masses follow false preachers.

There is power in the blood of Jesus Christ. Without the crucifixion and resurrection there is no salvation in Jesus Christ.

The gospel of truth will prevail, though a remnant remains.

That is where we will leave it for today.

Please read 1 Corinthians 15 for yourselves.

Let us hold to the truth of the gospel at any cost by God’s grace.

We need to pray for help with that.

Here are a few words from the song “In Christ Alone” to reflect upon today.

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my light, my strength, my song…

Scorned by the ones He came to save.

Till on that cross as Jesus died,

The wrath of God was satisfied.

For every sin on Him was laid,

Here in the death of Christ I live.

“Hold firmly to the true words that I taught you,

as the example for you to follow,

and remain in the faith and love

that are ours in union with Christ.”

2 Timothy 1:13

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in truth.” 3 John 1:4

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6.

“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:5
