All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel” — which means, “God with us.”
I never cease to enjoy hearing the Biblical account of the birth of Jesus. What about you?
Mary pledged to be married to Joseph, with child, through the Holy Spirit!
Amazing! Only God could give birth to His only son through a virgin maiden.
And we, like Joseph and Mary, must either believe and act on these happenings or we will choose to close our hearts and minds to the amazing events that unfolded.
Think of it, the incarnation of Christ, walking in human flesh and coming to us as Immanuel, God with us, always!
There in Bethlehem, the obscure little town, unknown, until Jesus, our Immanuel, laid in a manger, in the hay, by His faithful mother Mary.
An Angel of the Lord tells Mary and Joseph of the events about to unfold, and they believe!
What will we do as we hear of these events? As the story unfolds again during this Christmas year of the Lord, 2023?
Immanuel, God with us, every single day of the year.
As He was with Mary and Joseph, so He is with us as we believe He is so.
Mary’s song praises God for doing wondrous things for her!
And so He has for us!
He lives on the inside of us just as he did in Mary! Her spirit sprang to life as she carried Jesus in the temple of the Holy Spirit, His place of conception, within her.
Will we believe in the conception of God’s plan?
Our spirits spring to life as we commemorate the birth of the divine Savior, Jesus Christ, Immanuel, God with us!
We want to give as Christ gave. He gave His all for us. He laid down His life for us.
Our yearning is to give our all back to Jesus, to lay our lives down in full service to Him out of gratitude.
We long to give to others as Christ gave to us.
This gift-giving season reminds us to give to those we love too!
We have all received grace upon grace as we believe in the Christ-child, our Immanuel!
There is no gift that compares.
No one can explain the way the Holy Spirit comes to live in us as we believe.
This is Immanuel — God with us, 365 days of the year!
If you think you are alone, think again. God is all we need.
Naturally, as we give ourselves to the one who gave His all to us, we will never be alone.
It will be our goal and desire to serve God by serving others.
We will give of ourselves to those around us with the love of Christ filling our hearts.
Our lives will exemplify Christ. He gave His all for us. Will we do the same for Him?
You need not be alone this Christmas. Immanuel is with us; He is in us, He will help us live to our fullest in service to Him.
Satisfaction lies not in getting. It is in giving faithfully to Jesus, and to those He leads us to give to.
