My Strength-

Aug 6, 2026 | Rebuilding

“But I will sing of your strength,

in the morning I will sing of your love;

for you are my fortress,

my refuge in times of trouble.

You are my strength; I sing praise to you;

you, are my fortress,

my God on whom I can rely.

Psalm 59:16-17.

How is your summer going?

Have you been able to enjoy the sun and God’s beauty in nature?

I pray it is so for you.

The past week and a half has been a bit of a blur here.

On July 24th, 2026, I took my sister to a surgery she had scheduled.

It was a blessing to be with her throughout that day, and also in the week that followed, making meals, cleaning house, and cleaning the flowerbeds.

Honestly, it gave me joy to help my sister.

During that same week we hosted my brother and his wife overnight. Add to that babysitting a few grandchildren for a half day and several counselling appointments. After that, we went camping for the long weekend. To say it was a busy week is an understatement.

All of it was good, beautiful, and I wouldn’t trade it in for anything.

But it reminded me anew that my strength is not my own but comes from the LORD.

Ultimately, I had a crash day on Tuesday, vegging out between doing loads of laundry and cleaning up toys the grandchildren had played with last week. Finally, everything got caught up.

And I think we need days like that to regain our focus and our strength, not neglecting prayer time.

When I told someone what last week comprised, she said it made her tired just hearing about it.

To be honest, we camped in a tent one night. My back didn’t like that too much.

So yesterday I did something I rarely do. I went for a massage and came away renewed.

After some invigorating quiet time and downtime, I also felt renewed in the best sense.

So what’s my point?

I suppose it is to say, take time after a season of busyness to decompress.

Focus on God and ask Him for His strength when you are busy doing things for others or just something rough like camping.

The Holy Spirit is gentle, and I believe He wants us to be gentle on ourselves. That means taking care of our minds and bodies in a way that pleases God. It is not wrong to be gentle on yourself. If you go, go, go, take some rest afterwards.

We all need recovery time, and we all need to absorb God’s goodness and renew our strength so we can go from “strength to strength.”

“They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.” Psalm 84:7. NIV.

What is your post-activity regimen? Do you allow yourself rest after being wiped out from stressful busyness?

Above all, do you draw your strength from the LORD and ask Him to help you go “from strength to strength?”

That Bible verse is like 2 Corinthians 12:9.

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

And that is where it ends today.

This is yesterday’s “post” but I am uploading it today. At 2:30 P.M. yesterday we went e-biking and swimming with friends so I ran short of time. But here it is and I truly hope you enjoy the read.

We all need to remember if you and I are not giving ourselves time to rest in the LORD and draw on His strength, we won’t have any.

It’s just that simple.

Let’s take care of ourselves.

That glorifies God, too.

Until next time,

AND…

Relying on God,

Liz.
