New Heavens and a New Earth-
17 “Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind.
19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem
and take delight in my people;
the sound of weeping and of crying
will be heard in it no more.
25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox,
but dust will be the serpent’s food.
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,”
says the LORD.
Isaiah 65:17.19,25
Sometimes we all need the reminder that one day life will be perfect and we will live in harmony forever with our LORD. We will forget the former things, the pain, the misery, the suffering.
These words from Isaiah 65 are promises from God of life to come as we believe in Him. The Words from Scripture bring comfort and hope to keep persevering on this earth.
When thoughts of wars, injustices, persecutions, corrupt government flood our minds, we can reconcile these troubling thoughts with the hope of things to come.
We need not fear even death since we believe in the life to come where the lion and the lamb live on an equal plain.
There is hope in knowing all things will be new.
Life as we know it here and now, though filled with beauty and wonder, is also, at times, filled with intense pain and suffering.
We know Christ suffered, and therefore, as Christians, we will also suffer in this life. The Bible states in 1 Peter 4:13, we partake in the sufferings of Christ. We can’t escape suffering and trials, but we can look to Jesus and learn from how He endured.
Jesus, filled with humility, fulfilled God’s will for His earthly life. He was man and God all at once. He sweated and struggled before He went to the cross, but He did so in faith.
On this earth our lives will meet with trials, intense joy, sometimes horrific suffering. Yet the God of all hope gives us the promise of a new heaven and a new earth where we can look forward to an eternity with Him.
Jesus knows suffering, He understands pain, and He took the wrath of God for our sins so that we could one day enjoy eternal life with Him.
When life gets intense, when there is pain and agony, and dark despair, hold on to the hope of life forevermore in a place where there is no pain, no tears, and the lion and the lamb will lie down together in harmony.
Tomorrow I will share a Devotional on Isaiah Chapter 66. This will be the last chapter in Isaiah, a book that is so full of hope, promise, and beauty from the God of the lives of all who seek Him and believe. After that it is fitting to focus in more on what Jesus did on the Cross as Easter approaches. Yes, we need to focus on that daily in our Christian lives but at Easter time more intensely yet.
Until tomorrow then dear reader, may “The LORD bless you and keep you: The LORD make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you: The LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
