Path of Life and The Hope of Heaven

“You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
Psalm 16:11

Three weeks from tomorrow, it will be Good Friday. It seemed suitable therefore to select a text from the Bible to prepare our hearts to celebrate Good Friday and Easter.

The words from Psalm 16:11 do just that. As we read the Bible Verses before verse 11 we get confirmation of what the words David speaks mean. We may read the words of Psalm 16 in Acts 2:28 again.

David is speaking of Christ and His resurrection in this passage. As Christians Christ makes known to us the path of life, He leads us in this path by His Spirit which lives in us.

As we turn our eyes on Jesus, and let Him fill us with joy in His presence, we believe in the eternal pleasures at God’s right hand forevermore. What a comfort. Christ died for us. We have joy here on earth in His presence and forevermore in heaven. Our joy will be full when we see Jesus face to face.

As Christians we believe the death of Christ on the cross has resurrected us to eternal life when we die.

There is no fear in death, it is not the end but starting life forevermore with our LORD.

When we lose someone we love we derive comfort from these truths. They are not fiction but the very real promises of Jesus Christ our LORD and Savior. And we grieve our loses with hope for life eternal. Yes, we grieve but not without hope and comfort.

“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14.

We may weep but joy comes in the morning. Our loss is gain for those who die and truly believe in Christ as Savior.

Often we long to see our loved ones in heaven. Our joy will be full when we meet Jesus face to face and live in His presence forevermore. He comes first always. How blessed to have fellowship with our loved ones again also.

As Good Friday approaches, and we think of everything Christ has done for us, our souls overflow with hope. We know and believe with every fibre of our being that Jesus is sitting at God’s right hand forevermore. And in Christ’s dying we live forevermore!

If this hope does not fill you to the brim and spill out around you what does?

Might I invite you to ask Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords to live in your heart?

He will fill you with life and joy always and forever, as you seek Him, believe in Him and repent of your sins, asking Jesus to take over in your life.

That is the truth that makes all the difference.

Let us live for truth.
