Peace and Hope

Apr 11, 2024 | God's Love

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have gained access by faith into
his grace in which we now stand.
And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings,
because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance, character, and character, hope.
And hope does not put us to shame,
because God’s love has been poured out into
our hearts through the Holy Spirit,
who has been given to us.
Romans 5:1-5

In the world 2024, isn’t it comforting to know we can still have peace with God through Jesus Christ?

So much chaos, heartache, pain, suffering, and disillusionment. So many searching for meaning. If only all would put their hope in God!

All we need to do is turn on the news for five minutes and we already face despair with every news story.

That is why I don’t watch the news.

I can get a quick update at anytime online and I want to stay informed, but not too informed. That would lead to disillusionment and sorrow if not for the hope I have in God.

He is in control we are not. God knows the current events and every probable outcome is in His hands.

So I choose to meditate on God, on peace, on the good, lovely, right, pure, true, honorable, right, and commendable. Quite a list is it not? But what is the other option? Focus on the bad, ugly, false, dishonorable, wrong and uncommendable. Which list will you dwell on?

As Christians the only marker we have to make us different from anyone else is Christ’s grace. That is a game changer, though. When we gain access by faith into God’s grace, it is worth holding onto. Thank God He holds onto it for us! We just walk in His grace, accept His grace and dwell in peace that is ours as we believe in Jesus.

As we stand in grace, we boast in the hope we have in the glory of God!

Along with this hope we also glory in our sufferings! What????

Our sufferings are short term. Our long-term goal is eternal life.

This gives meaning to our suffering. It is indeed for a short time.

For all eternity we will praise God with all the other saints in glory!

Yet… we must keep an eternal perspective while we experience trials on this earth.

God has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. He is our refuge and our strength,

our ever present help in trouble.

Will He always remove the suffering? No.

God will always walk through our suffering or trials with us, though.

And that makes all the difference. We have our great God to lean on, draw strength from,

and keep our hope in for eternity.

We can cast our care on the LORD as He sustains us.

Even in our moments of doubt and wavering, God will strengthen us as we ask.

“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out
into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
Romans 5:5.

God gives us peace and hope in a world of confusion and despair.

I choose peace and hope in God.

What about you?
