Prine of Peace

Dec 6, 2023 | Hope

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
Isaiah 9:6-7

There are many Old Testament prophecies which foretell Jesus’s birth. Isaiah 9 is one of the most well known.

God promises the greatest gift ever to be given, a child, a son, to us, plural, you and I and all who will believe in Jesus.

This child, Jesus, would be called the Wonderful Counselor. He is for those who turn to Him for help and sustenance.

Jesus lives in our hearts and is the Counselor of all counselors. Turn to Him with your problems and trust Him to help. We confide in Him and He will work our situations out for the good.

Not one person can remotely come near to the help this Wise and Wonderful Counselor can offer. Any earthly counsellor that offers hope and help must derive its source from the Counselor of all counselors in order to be effective! Everything else is the empty philosophies of this world.

This little child coming to earth a babe in a manger. He is our mighty God, which is a translation of the Hebrew word “gibbor” that is defined as “strength, power, warrior, hero.” This is our mighty God!

He is our Everlasting Father! No wonder the Wise Men searched three years to locate the Christ Child. Then they fell to their knees in awe. He was born a child and yet a King! This King of our salvation. Christ’s purpose, not to remain in the cradle but to rule the world. He would die on the cross to give us life! The Everlasting Father He is!

This beautiful Saviour is also our Prince of Peace.

Our world, lost in darkness, forever groping. We need to turn to Jesus to lift the darkness. As we ask He lifts the heaviness, the burdens, the pressing in of the enemy.

We need to turn to Jesus and ask Him to lift any darkness off. We need to share our burdens with Him and cast our cares on Him. We leave them there, trusting Him to work it out.

God’s salvation plan is a ruler unlike any other governing leader. He rules as King. He is a child and yet He is God. He will be born in the flesh and yet He is divine.

Who can fathom the depth of God’s salvation but for the Holy Spirit enlightening our hearts?

Can we grasp who the King of Kings and Lord of Lords is?

Does the Word of God illuminate this gift to you and to me?

If so, together may we fall on our knees in awe before this Christ Child King of Kings, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This Christmas and always let us worship CHRIST!
