Randsomed Captives

Apr 29, 2024 | Growing in God's Grace

“And the ransomed of the LORD shall return
and come to Zion with songs and
everlasting joy upon their heads:
They shall obtain joy and gladness,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”
Isaiah 35:10

On the weekend we attended the “Teen Challenge Canada” 2024 Men’s Gala Banquet in London, Ontario, with several other couples we know.

It was an amazing and uplifting evening as we heard several raw and real testimonies from individuals. The grace of God had totally changed their lives.

These men spoke about God’s deliverance and victory in their lives.

We heard how Christ’s death, salvation, and victory Christ has secured their freedom.

Redemption, deliverance and victory were the themes of the evening.

We find in Isaiah 35 beautiful pictures of redemption and the imagery thereof.

The wilderness, the solitary place, the desert blossoms in joy and singing, all are a reminder of our own dead state until God changed our lives with His Spirit bringing us new life!

The excellency of our God is on display in the rich words and imagery found in Isaiah 35.

God will come with a recompense and save you. This is the promise found in these rich words of life.

Streams in the desert, parched ground becomes a pool, dead souls, and broken lives, brought to new life!

Joy and gladness, nothing short of amazing! Despair and brokenness replaced with the joy of the redeemed in the LORD!

Blossoms budding and green vines coming to life! Tender shoots springing forth.

We saw a picture of our hearts as a wilderness, dry and dead, needing God’s spirit to work in us to bring life.

Pictures of precious lives coming to life in Jesus Christ.

Young men, and old learning they are safe and secure in Jesus Christ.

Those ransomed, former captives, will have victory to the end as they cling to Christ the Vine.

We can be so thankful for His deliverance, victory, and salvation in Christ alone.

We are all completely dependent on God’s grace in our lives.

May each one know what it is to be redeemed. Those in the Teen Challenge Program, and those of us who have known God all our lives. We all are reliant on God’s redeeming grace.

We learn to walk in the way of holiness, persevering, kept by God’s grace.

Everyone listening to the testimonials on Friday evening could share the joy of those who gave evidence of God’s Spirit bringing new life. We could all relate to being dead and alive again! We all rejoiced to hear that God had brought new lives into His Kingdom!

That is why an evening such as The Teen Challenge Gala is so remarkable. We stand amazed at God’s at the miracle of redemption, knowing we also have nothing on our own merit. Everything worthy of boasting about in our lives depends completely upon God’s life, giving power.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see.

All the glory to God’s majestic name!

May our LORD receive praise and adoration for the lives changed, clearly witnessed at The Teen Challenge Gala and across the world wherever He sends His Spirit.
