Roaring Waters and Quaking Mountains-

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God is within her; she will not fall;

God will help her at break of day.

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.”

Psalm 46:1-6

Sometimes you just stand amazed at God’s magnificent creation!

A few days ago we ventured out into the balmy sunshine to talk a walk by one such place.

As the waters roared and roared and the sun shone brightly, we stood in awe once again of our mighty God’s power!

Upon those great roaring waters a rainbow cast its colours reminding us God made the rainbow, and it still belongs to Him!

Even in the February weather, people from various locations across the globe pondered the majestic waters and the breathtaking beauty of it all!

Myriads of photos were being taken in front of the waterfalls, with the promise of the rainbow in the background.

Everyone loves the sunshine and who doesn’t stand in awe when casting glances in awestruck wonder at either the American Falls or the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.

The waters at the peak splashed over the edge onto our coats and hair as we glibly joined the throng in an instant cold shower and basked in beauty and sunny rays.

The waters roared and foamed as we stood in wonder, recognizing the creation belongs to the one true God who made it and controls it.

It makes me mindful of the words in the confessions of my church.

Belgic Confession Article 2 states:

Q.By what means is God known unto us?

A.We know Him by two means: first, by the creation, preservation and government of the universe,

wherein all creatures, great and small, are as so many characters leading us to contemplate the invisible things of God,

namely His power and divinity, as the apostle Paul saith, Romans 1:20.

All of which things are sufficient to convince men, and leave them without excuse.

that is to say, as far as is necessary for us to know in this life,

to His glory and our salvation.

My brother has these words printed on the front of his snowmobile

They are beautiful words really and I hope every heart ponders them and believes them, for those words speak truth in a world full of lies.

It is true the promises of God, the hope of the resurrection, are clear for those who have eyes of faith to see.

If you struggle in believing in God, won’t you ask the great and only true God to make Himself known to you?

His waters roar, His creation magnifies, His mountains shake and you will say along with me…

“Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God!” Job 37:14.
