Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.
He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone.
Since Easter I have been writing about “new life” in Christ.
Today will begin a shift to focus on “new life” in nature, as it synchronizes in harmony within the soul of the believer.
Those who know me well also know I love Spring. Perhaps this is your favourite season as well.
Spring, the season when everything comes to life and colour, explodes everywhere along the countryside!
New life within and without, new life reverberates, coinciding with celebrations about “new life” in Christ!
Spring is the visual of what happens in the soul when Jesus Christ comes to take up residence there.
Spiritual blessings promised and coinciding with the flourishing of the earth to new life.
The farmer asks for spring rains just as the believer asks for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
It is perhaps a test of faith and God always proves Himself faithful when we ask.
Ancient Israel, God’s people, relied on both autumn rain and spring rain since they did not have irrigation systems.
Thus, they had to seek God for what they needed for their crops. They truly had to rely on God’s provision.
The beauty of it is God gave to all people, and He still does this today.
When the blossoms grow, the sun shines, the earth flourishes in greenery, and the buds turn to leaves everyone gets to enjoy the beauty.
When the crops get planted, and a harvest eventually provided, everyone enjoys plenty. At least that is God’s intention, somehow man diverts the outcome.
To the nation of Isreal, rain was promised, in its proper time because of the obedience of the nation.
God still blesses the nation that turns to Him for help and obeys His ordinances. A country founded on Biblical principles is indeed blessed. (Psalm 33:12)
The country I live in has strayed from following the fundamental truths of the Bible. As a result, its foundations are crumbling fast.
If only the people would turn to God again for “spring rain” for “direction” and for its system of beliefs. I believe there would be a return to normality and our nation would be prosperous again.
Yet many people do not rely on God for spiritual blessings, for earthly blessings, for anything.
And as the soil produces a harvest, so we reap what we sow.
That we can understand both physically on the earth and spiritually within.
God is the giver of rain, life, flourishing growth, prosperity, plenty, and God is the one who allows foundations to crumble when man is too proud or too rebellious to go to Him for help.
Today is a good day to turn to the LORD for help and direction.
He sends the showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone,
Let us ask Him to do just that, both figuratively, metaphorically, and literally.
And may it be that someday soon our nation bows the knee and asks again for “spring rain.”
Then you will flourish, beyond all measure, when God reigns in your heart, soul, and in your country.
