Spring Rains

“Ask the LORD for rain in the spring,
for He makes the storm clouds.
And He will send showers of rain
so every field becomes a lush pasture.”
Zechariah 10:1 (NLT)

We’ve all heard the saying “April showers bring May flowers.”

Yet how many have heard the saying, “Ask the LORD for rain in the Spring, for He makes the storm clouds. And He will send showers of rain, so every field becomes lush pasture.”

That is God speaking to us.

He wants us to ask Him to provide rain for our crops or to put it in plain language, “God is the one who makes plants grow in each person’s field.”

How many people do that today?

Ask God for His blessing on their work, families, and life journey?

The Israelites of old turned to and trusted idols over God’s help many times.

Here, the Israelites are being reminded to follow and trust God for provision.

God extends His mercy to those who will ask and believe Him in trust to be Jehovah Jireh.

The LORD wants His people to be bold enough to ask Him for His provision, and trust that He alone can provide.

Our help, our salvation, comes from God alone. He gives us strength, provision, and all that we need.

Perhaps you recognize that fact. Maybe you don’t.

God gathers His people to Himself with mercy and compassion.

So as we watch the crops grow and the Spring rains pour down, may it remind us of the goodness of God.

May we reflect on His beauty, the joy that is ours in His blessings and salvation.

And as we ask God for rain to pour down, may His living water flow through us and in us and make us a reservoir of blessing and goodness to others.

May we see God in all that surrounds us, everything that we struggle with. Let us trust Him with good times and in our trials.

Our lives will resonate with joy, brooks of joy bubbling over, hearts filled to the brim with gratitude and thankfulness for

God’s provision.

“When we cease to pray for blessings,
God has already ceased to bless us,
but when our souls pour out floods of prayer,
God is certain temporary floods of mercy.”
Charles Spurgeon

That is where we will leave it for today.

I hope you’ll be back to read on the Blog on Monday April 22nd.

It is such a beautiful season to reflect on God’s goodness.

For those who have eyes to see this season of renewal.

As the rains pour over the earth to wash it clean after the dark days of winter,

new life springs forth as far as the eye can see.

Green growth, lush crops in days ahead, blossoms in a barren land.

New beginnings, transformed lives, hearts awakening and reawakening to the promises of God.

Birth of new animals, rebirth of the soul.

Lives resurrected with hope for the future.

“Our LORD has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone,
but in every leaf in springtime.
Martin Luther.
