Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
For the LORD is the great God,
the great King
above all gods.
Psalm 95:1-3
Are you wearing out in your thankfulness yet?
We have fourteen more days in October to focus in on being thankful here. And then three hundred and sixty-five days a year!
For me this is a topic that never gets old. How we must aim to express our gratitude in our daily exciting and challenging, sometimes mundane existence.
Have you taken the opportunity to sing out loud (SOL) in the past few days? What about shouting out loud to the rock of our salvation? I believe our worship needs to be intentional and passionate, all combined.
The more we allow ourselves to express gratitude and praise our God in song, the more we glorify Him.
Perhaps when we are driving down the road, or folding laundry, mowing lawn, or fixing something in the garage, we can lift our voices in song.
Some families like to sing together at meals. That is a wonderful practise.
If you are by yourself when you do your daily devotions, why not sing a few hymns or favourite songs that praise our God?
I had mentioned listening to Christian Radio in the home or on that drive. Many now have Sirius XM Radio and can access unlimited channels, including a multitude of Christian stations.
There is no lack of resources, that is certain.
It lifts our souls heavenward as we sing to our great God. Our spirits soar, the darkness lifts, and joy permeates our being. What is there to lose, dear one?
One of my personal favourites on Christian Radio is the song “Goodness of God.” And if I had to choose just one favourite hymn, it would be hard to narrow it down. That stated, one of my favourites is “Beautiful Saviour.” That is only one and there are many! What about you? Do you have an all-time favourite? Why not share in the comments below? I would love to hear about it.
There are many reasons to worship God in song. As I mentioned, we glorify Him. We find joy for our souls. It strengthens our faith. We witness to others. We sing God’s Word and it grows stronger in us. And Scripture directs us to worship our King of Kings! It is a privilege to worship God, especially in freedom.
We show our belief that our God is the great God, the great King, above all gods, when we lift His name in song.
Our Lord Jesus is infinitely worthy of our praise. No one else has loved us that much. No other god, small g, comes anywhere close to remotely touching the Kingship of our one true God and King Jesus.
Our Jesus, the King, the one true God, is…
the name above all names to whom every knee shall bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
(Philippians 2:10-11)
Let us sing!
