True Love

Feb 14, 2024 | God's Love

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me —
just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father — and I lay down
my life for the sheep.”
John 10:14-15
“My sheep, listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can
snatch them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all;
no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
I and the Father are one.”
John 10:27-30

So many feel they are missing something on Valentine’s Day.

Missing love, missing having a spouse, missing a visible demonstration of love.

But if you really want to be loved, go to Jesus, go to His Word, find His unconditional love.

The scriptures I hand picked for you today from John 10 are the real demonstration of love.

A person can buy a dozen roses for us, but would that same person put their life on the line for us?

Only Christ exemplifies genuine love in perfection.

After all He is the good Shepherd, and He laid down His life for us to give us eternal life!

He knows us by name, and we know Him by the name of Jesus.

He fills us to overflowing with love, so we can love with a sacrificial love, not a cheap imitation, but the real deal of true love.

If we keep searching for people to fill the voids in our hearts, we will forever search for love in all the wrong places. So many tragically do so.

These Bible Verses from John 10 are so very personal. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are His sheep; He cares for us, He keeps His protecting rod around our lives to keep us safe. We know His voice. A loving, merciful, comforting voice. He knows us. It’s personal, unconditional, a love like no other.

Many today will feel empty and alone all because someone named today Valentine’s Day.

I heard someone say they were buying themselves some flowers on February 14th.

How smart is that? Treat yourself if no one else does. Warm up your home for hubby and you with flowers, and chocolates, and coffee or hot chocolate. If you live on your own, do what so many are now celebrating “Gal-entine’s Day” a day to celebrate with gal friends! Many men don’t really care about Valentine’s Day at all, so I’m not sure there is a Guy-entine’s Day. Who knows what they will come up with, though?

So my gentle encouragement to you today on this Love Day is…

Look in the right places for love.

Look into God’s Word, meditate on it long.

Talk to Jesus in prayer.

Ask our LORD to show you His love until you are overflowing.

What have you got to lose, love?

And as I close, I will share with you a favourite Bible Verse so perfect for today, Valentine’s Day/ perhaps we should rename it … “Christ’s Unconditional Love Day!”

17 The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
New International Version
 “The Lord your God is in the midst of you,
a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]!
He will rejoice over you with joy;
He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them];
He will exult over you with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
