Weak Yet Strong-

May 27, 2024 | Encouragement

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses.
so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities.
For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:9-10

It is Monday morning somewhere. In my neck of the woods, it is.

So I was going to write about thankfulness and giving today.

However, I read another Scripture this morning in my daily devotions and focused in on the words of

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 today instead.

I thought maybe these words might bring you comfort, as they did for me this Monday morning.

Another day will focus on giving again. Thanks for grace.

Maybe you have felt utterly weak and God has given you the grace to keep moving forward?

I know I have.

And here’s the thing: God can use us in our weakest moments if we give ourselves to Him, and ask for His strength. Even if we are excruciatingly tired, God can renew us with His strength so that we keep going, even in our weakness. And surprisingly, as we lean on God for grace, those are the moments He often uses us most.

The apostle Paul knew all about this. More than we might ever know.

He faced hardships, insults, persecution, and difficult situations.

We do also in our own way, don’t we? Obviously not to the extent Paul lived these words out.

Perhaps persecution will be on the horizon for Christians in Canada and the USA.

Maybe, maybe not, only God knows.

Many Christians already live under persecution across the world. If you follow “Voice of the Martyrs” or receive their emails, you know this is true. How we need to pray for these believers that God would sustain them with His grace.

Sometimes in our ordinary lives, we let the enemy of our souls bog us down, but we should not. He would like to see us despair. He fills our heads with lies so often. Are you checking your thinking to make sure it aligns with God’s will? I need to do the same. The enemy wants to drag us down, but only if we let him. And he works through the people you would least expect sometimes. Angels of light, you might say. Sometimes, past sins get thrown back in our face. Rise. That is the ugly work of the enemy trying to defeat you.

Be on guard over the lies of the enemy. Rise. We are the redeemed of the LORD! What Satan will use to bring defeat, God will use to help you overcome for His glory. Hold that thought and I will too.

We need to rise as more than conquerors with God’s grace helping us.

We can only do this as we rely on God’s grace to sustain us in our weaknesses.

When people purposely insult you, persecute you, go to God and find strength there.

Rise above what the enemy meant for evil and God turned around for good.

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31.

And on that note, we shall rise this Monday morning, and conquer the tasks before us in God’s grace and strength.
